Considering the current climate, there are no mindfulness group sessions taking place until further notice.
As a fully qualified Mindfulness Teacher I work with individuals as well as large and small organisations to deliver mindfulness programmes to their employees. This takes the form of eight week group programme or one- to-one sessions. The programme is designed to reduce sick leave, anxiety and stress amongst employees and improve moral.
Can we afford stress at work?
Mental ill-health, including stress, depression and anxiety, is thought to be responsible for 91 million lost working days each year, more than for any other illness
Sickness absence costs £8.4 billion each year, plus another £15.1 billion in reduced productivity
A further £2.4 billion is lost replacing staff who leave work because of mental ill-health
The cost of mental ill- health is estimated to be at £30 billion each year in the UK (ACAS, 2012)
To combat feelings of stress, prominent organizations such as Google, Facebook, Adobe, General Mills, Aetna and Target have formal mindfulness programs to promote stress reduction and employee engagement.
What are the benefits of mindfulness at workplace?
Leading organisation realised that bringing mindfulness to the workplace has the potential to decrease people’s stress levels whilst improving focus and clarity, listening, judgement and decision-making skills. Practicing mindfulness can also contribute to developing emotionally intelligent employees. Emotionally intelligent employees treat their co-workers and customers better through developing self -awareness and self-confidence, experiencing resilience and motivation. Developing mindfulness skills also helps managers and employees to be more engaged in their work, feel more energized, less anxious and suffer from less symptoms of stress, which has positive effects on productivity and creativity at workplace. Beyond the benefits of mindfulness at workplace, a wide number of research studies have also shown that mindfulness is beneficial in improving insomnia, as well as boosting the immune system and improving medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, asthma and chronic pain.
What is mindfulness and the Mindfulness Now programme?
Mindfulness means paying attention, in a particular kind of way, on purpose and non-judgementally.
Mindfulness Now – 8 week programme
The Mindfulness Now 8 week programme is a unique mind/body programme incorporating a fusion of key elements from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. These are evidence-based programmes developed to combat stress, anxiety and re-occurring depression. The Mindfulness Now programme includes
A detailed individual assessment: every participant receives an individual detailed assessment, carried out through informal discussion over the phone to match their needs to what the programme offers
Group (up to 20 participants) mindfulness sessions lasting up to 2 hours
An eight weeks teaching and support programme
Dedicated audio recordings for participants to listen to between sessions
‘The Gift’, a day-long mindfulness retreat
At the 6/ 7th week, a day-long meditation retreat takes place. The idea is that it is a gift of time to ourselves. This is an opportunity for participants to experience a whole day of mindfulness which includes formal group meditations, gentle movement exercises, discussions, walking outdoors - if possible, enjoying periods of rest and eating a meal together. Most of the day, including rest, eating and walking, which are carried out in relative silence – that is, in the spirit of non-chatting. Beyond developing mindfulness skills, this day also offers teams the opportunity to further develop and strengthen interpersonal relationships with colleagues.
Cost of the programme
In order to make the most of the programme, participants are invited, where possible, to take part of the full duration of the 8 weeks course, as well as the Gift day. The cost of the 8 weeks programme per employee is £250. The cost of the Gift day is dependent upon availability of premises offered by the organisation. Where organisations are able to offer premises, the Gift day can be offered at the rate of £1200.
